Many players reported The Last of Us goes to the loading screen but fails to load past 0%. Read this guide to learn everything you need to know on how to troubleshoot these loading issues.
Important Note! Some of the solutions listed in this guide may result in the loss of data. Always back up your PS4 data to an external hard drive, USB storage device or PSN Cloud before attempting any troubleshooting methods.
The Last of Us Got Stuck on the Loading Screen
Fix 1: Restart your console
If your PS4 console stops working or you can’t launch your favourite games, the first thing you should do is restart the console. This simple solution can often help you to fix some of the most annoying technical glitches you may experience while playing games on your PlayStation console.
Fix 2: Start PS4 in Safe Mode
If a simple restart didn’t fix the problem, try starting your PS4 in Safe Mode.
- Press the power button on the front panel of your PS4 console to turn it off. Wait until the system is off.
- Press and hold the power button again and release it only after you’ve heard the second beep. You should be able to hear the second beep seven seconds after you heard the first one.
- Now connect your controller using the USB cable.
- Press the PS button on the controller to enter Safe Mode.
Fix 3: Rebuild your database
If you still can’t load The Last of Us, try rebuilding your console’s database. In this manner, you will reorganise your console’s hard drive thus helping the system to access your game files quicker.
- Power off your PS4.
- Press and hold the power button down until you’ve heard two beeps. This means that your console just entered Safe Mode.
- Connect your controller to your console with the help of the USB cable.
- Enter the menu and navigate to option 5, Rebuild Database.
- Hit the X button to launch the database rebuild process.
Keep in mind that rebuilding the database may take anything from just a few minutes to over 30 minutes depending on how many games your installed on the console.
Fix 4: Delete the game
If all the methods listed above failed to fix your problem, delete the game and restart your console. Once you’ve made sure that all The Last of Us game files have been removed, download and install the game again.
Hope something helps!
