Error code code 115 is an annoying error that usually occurs after Sims 4 users downloaded and installed the latest game update. It may appear when users try to family groups or simply launch the game.
Relaunching the game does not always fix the problem. Perhaps the most annoying part about this error is that there is very little information about it and users don’t really know what it means.
What is error 115 in Sims 4? Error code 115 can indicate two things: there is a Windows error or a file conflict blocking The Sims 4 from launching.
How to Fix Sims 4 Error 115
Fix 1 – Disable your mods
It is not at all uncommon for Sims 4 updates to break most of your mods and even some CC as well. This mainly happens because mods tend to become outdate or even incompatible with the game shortly after a new Sims 4 update gets released.
To check if your mods are actually causing error 115, move your Mods folder to your desktop and test the game. Delete the localthumbcache.package file from the game folder as well.
If you can’t launch Sims 4 without any issues, move your mods one by one back to the Sims 4 folder. Test if the game is still working properly after adding each mod.
If there are any updates for your mods, install them as soon as possible. Chances are the latest mod version may have already fixed the incompatibility problems with the latest game version.
Fix 2 – Repair Sims 4
If error 115 is actually caused by corrupted game files, you should be able to troubleshoot it pretty quickly using the built-in Repair option.
To use this feature, right-click on The Sims 4 in your Origin game library and select Repair.
Fix 3 – Close other programs
If there are other programs running on your computer while you’re playing the Sims 4, you may want to disable them. Some of these apps and programs might interfere with the game files, preventing them from running properly.
Don’t keep other programs running in the background while you’re playing The Sims 4. You can use the Task Manager to close these programs or you can simply clean boot your computer.
We hope something helps.
