Nintendo Switch Is Not Docking Properly? Fix It

nintendo switch docking issues

If you’re experiencing Nintendo Switch docking issues, this post may help you. Surprisingly, this is quite a common problem among gamers, but the solution is not at all that obvious.

In this article, we’ll try to provide you with a few tips and suggestions on how to successfully dock your Nintendo Switch console.

How to Fix Nintendo Switch Docking Issues

Fix 1 – Connect the cables in a specific order

If the cables are not inserted in the right order, this may explain why you’re experiencing this issue. Some gamers reported that the dock-firmware crashes when the HDMI cable is connected to the TV before the dock gets power from the power adapter.  As a result, you should plug the HDMI cable only after you have plugged the other cables.

Remove the console from the dock and unplug absolutely all the cables. There is no need to unplug both ends of the cables, you can leave the power adapter plugged to the wall socked and the HDMI cable plugged to the TV set.

Now, plug in the dock power cable, and then the HDMI cable to the console and insert the switch into the dock. The green light should now go on.

Fix 2 – Restart the console in handheld mode

Nintendo Switch owners also suggested that restarting the console in handheld mode and quickly putting it in the dock before it started up fixed the problem.

Fix 3 – Check the power cable

If your Switch Dock is not getting enough power because the power cable might be faulty or damaged, you’re going to experience docking problems. Inspect the power cable manually and visually to make sure the cable is not faulty. Do that with all the cables you’re using.

Ideally, you should be using the original Switch Dock Power cable. Plug it in a separate power outlet that is not being shared with any other devices.
