Nintendo Gold Points are loyalty rewards that gamers get for making game purchases that are eligible for Gold points.
Bu there have been quite a few reports about Nintendo Gold Points not being available on physical game copies or not being redeemable.
This guide will show why that happens and what you can do if you can’t redeem your Nintendo Gold Points.
Fix My Nintendo Gold Points Are Missing
Solution 1 – Make sure your game is eligible for Gold Points
The most important piece of information to start with is this: not every game, be it physical or digital can be used for earning more Gold Points.
As a matter of fact, the support page for earning Gold Points highlights players can get them by:
- Purchasing downloadable games for Nintendo Switch, Wii U, or Nintendo 3DS from the Nintendo website, Nintendo eShop, or retailer-issued download codes.
- Purchasing (not redeeming) a set of Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers (available until July 31, 2019).
- Registering physical game cards for Nintendo Switch. (Physical software for other systems does not qualify for Gold Points.)
Keep in mind that imports don’t count for Gold Points. Gamers can use Gold Points only in countries using the same currency as the country where they were earned.
Solution 2 – Make sure your points didn’t expire
As Nintendo explains, Gold Points expire 12 months after you collected them and cannot be redeemed. So, if your Nintendo Points are not working, make sure they haven’t expired.
How to check if Nintendo Points have expired
- Step 1 – Click on the Menu icon
- Step 2 – Select Points summary
- Step 3 – Click on Points history — this is where you’ll find the list of the points that have already expired
- Step 4 – Click on the month filter to see the monthly history of your points.
Solution 3 – Contact Nintendo Support
If the games you purchased are eligible for Gold Points and they haven’t expired, yet you can’t use them, then the best approach is to contact Nintendo Support.
Hope something helps.
