If you try to log in to Gears of War 5 at a moment when the servers are completely overloaded, you may encounter Error Code ESTANA or error 0x80004001.
Needless to say, the game had a pretty rough start with plenty of issues reported by gamers. Unfortunately, some of these issues are still haunting players from time to time. And that’s the case for error code ESTANA.
Unfortunately, there is no relevant information about this error on TC’s official support page. There is no information as to why this error code occurs or what methods gamers can use to fix it.
Given this situation, we decided to shed some light on this matter and bring you several possible fixes for this problem.
How to Fix Error ESTANA in Gears of War 5 (Or Try To)
⇒ Note: If there’s official news from TC confirming the servers are unavailable, the best thing you can do is wait until the company fixes the problem. In 99% of cases, error ESTANA indicates the servers are down.
If there’s no information about a server outage or any server-side problems, you can try some of the solutions listed below.
Fix 1 – Check your Internet connection
This is to make sure the server problems are not caused by a faulty Internet connection on your end. Here what you can do to make sure your connection is stable and fast:
- Unplug your modem and wait for 2 minutes before plugging it back in. In this manner, you’ll get rid of temporary files clogging up the connection and slowing it down.
- Update your router firmware. If there are any pending updates, install them. Oftentimes, the latest firmware updates bring stability improvements and patches for known issues.
- Use a cable connection when playing GOW5. Ethernet connections are much more stable compared to their wireless counterparts.
- Disconnect other devices from the network. Make sure the computer or console you’re playing GOW 5 on is the only device connected to your home network. In this manner, the respective device will have full access to the entire bandwidth.
Fix 2 – Wait and try again
Wait 5 minutes and try again. If the servers were full the first time you tried to play GOW5, chances are other players disconnected from the servers while you waited which should allow you to connect to the game.
Well, that’s pretty much all that you can do when you get error code ESTANA. Yes, seeing this error on the screen can be very frustrating but let’s hope the servers get back up and running as soon as possible.
