Many Cyberpunk 2077 players complained about the excessive glare in the game. The default graphics settings are not the best in the world, to say the least. But the good news is that you can do something about that.
To reduce glare in Cyberpunk 2077, disable Lens Flare. The problem with this option is that it often produces more glare than flare. It also washes out a lot of detail in the game. Not to mention that it reduces many of the lighting effects.
With Lens Flare on:
- You won’t be able to see your character when you use a mirror in V’s room.
- It’s kind of impossible to drive in first person mode in the desert. You’ll barely see anything around you.
- If you look at a light source from an angle, it becomes extremely bright. And it’s impossible to see anything in that direction.
- When coming out of an underpass or bridge, glare is excessive. This makes it impossible to see anything around you.
Many gamers said the Lens Flare was nothing but a huge distraction. They added that it felt like characters were wearing a face shield or something. If you agree, disable lens flare and check if you like the changes.
As one gamer well pointed out:
Many cars cannot be used in first person because of excessive glare glitch (Little Mule the worst). Even with those that don’t have the problem, glare when coming out of an underpass or bridge is excessive and not natural. […] Glare doesn’t add anything to the game but it does subtract.
Disable Chromatic Aberration, Film Grain, and Motion Blur
If you disable Chromatic Aberration, Film Grain, and Motion Blur, you should notice important improvements in visual quality. For example, the Film Grain actually reduces the graphics quality. It’s as if a film grain was superimposed over the game. Chromatic Aberration simply makes everything look so blurry. It literally blurs things out.
Turn Off All Graphics Settings
Some gamers went as far as disabling all the graphics settings and enhancements. Surprisingly, many said the game looked much sharper with all the graphics enhancements off.
