How to fix PS4 Update Error CE-30785-3
Fix 1 – Turn off your devices and disconnect all cables
Alright, so if you haven’t turned off your PS4 yet, please do so now. Once your console is completely turned off, disconnect absolutely all the cables connecting it to other devices.
Wait for a couple of minutes. Unplug your modem/router as well.
You can then boot up your console and plug the cables back in. Check if error CE-30785-3 persists.
Sony also says that if you get this error code at random, your should also go to Safe Mode and select option 6 Initialize PS4.

Fix 2 – Use a USB 2.0 flash drive
One resourceful user found a quick solution that helped him fix the problem. Hopefully the instructions listed below will help you fix this error as well:
- Make sure that you have a USB 2.0 drive
- Now, go ahead and format the drive from your PC
- Create the drive folders PS4 → UPDATE
- The drive should contain the PS4UPDATE.PUP file. In other words, simply create a PS4 directory on your USB drive, and then a subdirectory and name it UPDATE.
- The PUP should be located in the UPDATE directory.
- Now, simply download the update file to your USB drive (follow the on-screen instructions of the system update screen)
- Connect your USB drive to your PS4 and use option 7 to reinitialize the PS4
- Set up the hard drive, and read the system software setup file from your USB drive
- The PS4 should now install the system software and restart when the process is complete.
Fix 3 – Check your HDD
Error CE-30785-3 often occurs when there’s something wrong with your HDD. So, you may want to check if you need to replace your PS4 Hard Drive.
If your console is still under warranty, the best solution is to ask Sony to replace the broken HDD.
If the error occurred after you previously upgraded your HDD, try replacing the new hard drive with the original HDD.
If you remove the HDD by yourself, you will void the warranty, so proceed at your own risk.
