Matchmaking issues have been affecting FIFA for years. The main problem is finding opponents. You can spend hours searching without finding a match.
If you’re experiencing similar issues, check if the problem is on EA’s end. Check if FIFA’s servers are working properly. Go to the EA Help Twitter page and check if there are any known matchmaking issues.
If FIFA’s servers are working properly, follow the troubleshooting solutions below.
How to fix FIFA matchmaking issues
Launch FIFA from Origin
If FIFA matchmaking is not working, quit the game. Wait for 30 seconds and launch the game from Origin instead of the EA platform. This quick workaround should reset your connection to the servers.
Check your connection
If the issue persists, check your connection. Make sure you have a fast and stable Internet connection before launching FIFA.
If you’re using a wireless connection, switch to a cable connection.
If that’s not an option for you, go to your router’s settings page and change your Wi-Fi channel.
Unplug your router
Additionally, unplug your router, and leave it unplugged for one minute. Meanwhile, restart your computer or console.
Plug the router back into the wall outlet, wait until you’re back online, launch FIFA again, and check if you can join a match.
Free up more bandwidth
Additionally, force-stop network-heavy apps. For example, video-streaming apps eat up a lot of bandwidth. If you’re running low on bandwidth, your device might have a hard time establishing a stable connection to FIFA’s servers.
Disconnect all the other devices connected to your router. The PC or console you’re playing FIFA on should be the only device connected to your router.
Check to see if you’re using IPv4 or IPv6. If you’re using IPv6, disable this option and use IPv4 instead.
Log out of your EA account
If resetting your connection doesn’t solve the problem, try logging out of your account. Close the app, restart it, log back into your EA account, and launch FIFA.
If the problem persists, contact EA Support.
