Playing games with friends can be a lot of fun, but it can be frustrating when you can’t invite them through the EA app. This can prevent you from fully enjoying your favorite games.
If you’re having issues sending invitations, receiving invitations from friends, or your friends are unable to see your invitations, then this guide is for you.
Fix: The EA App won’t let me invite friends
Check your privacy settings
Double-check the privacy settings on both accounts. Make sure you and your friends have logged into your EA accounts and are playing the same game. Try to find each other using the e-mail address.
Use the in-game social tab
To connect with your friends, you need to add them in-game through the social tab. Make sure all of your friends are online. Ask your friends to change their status if they appear offline by default when they log in.
If you have added your friends, left-click on their usernames and invite them to join your party.
Block and unblock your friends
Block your friends and confirm they show up as blocked users. Then, add them as friends from the Blocked Users list, and check if they can join the party.
Basically, you need to block them, then unblock them, and then add them as friends.
Enable in-game overlay
Make sure the in-game overlay is enabled in the EA App. If the option is disabled, the overlay to invite friends won’t show up.
Other PC players confirmed they solved the problem and got the EA overlay to work after disabling Nvidia Overlay. This feature is notorious for causing unexpected issues.
Disable hooking software
If you’re using programs that change the way your game client or OS operate, such as overclocking software, make sure to disable them to avoid software conflict.
Software conflict occurs when two or more programs interfere with each other. This can cause one or both programs to not work correctly. This usually happens when different programs have conflicting settings.
That could explain why you can invite friends to join the fun on EA Play.
For example, many EA App users that couldn’t invite friends solved this issue after disabling MSI Afterburner.
If you have Steam, NVidia GeForce Experience, Epic, or other hooking software, temporarily disable them and check if you can invite your friends to join your party.
You can use the Task Manager to force-stop these programs. Alternatively, you can clean-boot your computer.
Nahimic and RivaTuner are two programs known to interfere precisely with the EA App overlay that allows you to invite friends.
Here’s how you can disable these programs using the Services App.
- Type msconfig in the Windows search bar
- Click on the Services tab
- Check the box to Hide all Microsoft Services
- Locate the Nahimic Service/Rivatuner and uncheck those boxes
- Hit the OK button
- Start the EA App and launch your game
You should now get the overlay in Online mode when inviting a friend.
Feel free to turn those services back on if you want to use either of them.
Use App Recovery
Click on the three dashes in the left-hand corner of the EA app, scroll down to Help, click on App Recovery, and then select Clear Cache.
Restart the app and check if you can send invites.
That’s it, I hope something helps.
