Did you just find a PlayStation Plus membership card you bought years ago but you’re not sure whether it expired or not? Keep on reading this quick guide to learn how you can check if the card has been redeemed or not.
Do unredeemed PS Plus membership cards expire?
PS Plus membership cards should remain valid until you redeem them unless specified otherwise on the back. While PS Plus cards don’t expire, there’s no reason you should be holding onto them.
Simply put your PS Plus code in and your subscription will extend by an additional 12 months.
To test if your PS Plus card is still valid, add it to your account. The system will then tell you what the card is good for. You don’t actually need to claim the card amount.
You can back out without redeeming the card if you don’t want to use it.
Always check state law
In many countries, including Canada, anything with monetary value cannot legally expire. This includes gift cards. That’s why Canadian PSN cards do not have an expiry date on them. The same is valid in California.
However, you should always check state law. Other states may or may not have similar laws.
Stay away from counterfeit PS Plus cards
If you can’t use unredeemed cards, it’s possible that the respective cards did not actually expire, but they were counterfeit. Always buy PS Plus membership cards, or any gift cards for that matter, from reputable parties.
A reputable seller guarantees the cards are legit.
Keep in mind that hackers can sometimes steal PlayStation membership codes. When you try to redeem the code, you may sometimes get an alert informing you the card has already been redeemed.
Hackers often resort to code-guessing algorithms to claim PS Plus codes.
And now you know!
